How SQE1 Booking Works

Register with the SRA
Create a candidate account at sqe.sra.org.uk. You'll need to register before you can access the booking system for any sitting.
Book When the Window Opens
Booking windows open approximately 3–6 months before each sitting. Popular test centres fill quickly — book as soon as the window opens.
Choose Your Test Centre
Pearson VUE centres are located across England and Wales. Not all centres are available for every sitting. Check sqe.sra.org.uk for current availability.
Prepare for Exam Day
Bring valid photo ID. The exam is 2 hours 33 minutes (90 questions). Arrive early — late arrivals may not be admitted.

View PackagesFrequently Asked Questions About SQE Exam Dates
When are the SQE1 exam dates for 2026?
The SQE1 January 2026 sitting has already taken place, with results released on 10 March 2026. The next SQE1 sitting is July 2026: FLK1 runs 13–17 July 2026 and FLK2 runs 20–24 July 2026. The SRA typically publishes dates for each year's sittings approximately 12 months in advance.
How often is SQE1 held?
SQE1 is offered twice a year, with sittings in January and July. Each sitting consists of two separate exams — FLK1 and FLK2 — held in separate weeks. Candidates can sit both in the same sitting or at different sittings.
When should I book my SQE1 exam?
You should book as early as possible once the booking window opens — typically 3–6 months before the sitting. Places at Pearson VUE test centres are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Popular centres in London and major cities fill quickly.
When are SQE1 results released?
SQE1 results are typically released 8–10 weeks after the exam sitting. For example, January 2026 results were released on 10 March 2026. The SRA publishes the exact results date when confirming the assessment schedule.
Can I resit SQE1 if I fail?
Yes. There is no limit on the number of times you can resit SQE1. However, you must pass both SQE1 and SQE2 within six years of your first attempt at either assessment. You can also split FLK1 and FLK2 across different sittings — you only need to resit the paper you failed.
